SKYLOONG GK75 Review

An expert in gaming peripherals, the Skyloong GK75 keyboard promises to revolutionize your gaming experience. With its customizable RGB lighting and durable construction, this keyboard is designed for optimal performance and comfort during long gaming sessions. As a seasoned gamer, I was impressed by the tactile feedback and responsiveness of the keys, enhancing my gameplay significantly.

Key Features

The Skyloong GK75 provides a compact 75% layout, striking a perfect balance between functionality and space-saving design. With an impressive count of 80 keys along with an additional functional knob, users have plenty of options for customization and control at their fingertips. This compact size makes it versatile, and ideal for gaming setups or workstations with limited desk space. You get the option of choosing either the ANSI layout or the ISO layout. The abundance of keys ensures that essential functions are easily accessible without compromising on space. The inclusion of the functional knob adds another layer of convenience for tasks like volume control or scrolling.

It is equipped with Gateron optical switches, these switches provide quicker response times, smoother keystrokes, and enhanced durability. The keyboard boasts high-quality keycaps crafted from durable PBT material for the ANSI layout. These keycaps are designed to withstand prolonged use without showing signs of wear and tear, ensuring longevity.

On the other hand, the ABS material used for the ISO layout keycaps provides a smooth texture that enhances typing comfort. Both materials offer exceptional stability, preventing any wobbling during intense typing or gaming sessions. The keys are spaced out, giving a much more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing experience.

I found the PBT keycaps on the ANSI layout incredibly sturdy and resistant to fading over time. The ABS keycaps on the ISO layout provided a comfortable typing experience with their smooth texture. You can customize the RGB of the keyboard from your PC, the software also allows you to save profiles and macros.

Note: The ANSI version is with blue backlights. The ISO version is with RGB backlights.

The GK75 is a shallow gasket mount design, which Skyloong says it eliminates the traditional gasket mount design’s drawback of lacking support on the main typing area. This design significantly enhances typing comfort by reducing vibrations and noise. This mounting system acts as a cushion, absorbing impact and resulting in a quieter typing experience. It provides satisfying tactile feedback, making each keystroke more responsive and precise. The GK75 also comes with a layer of case foam between the PCB and the bottom case to further reduce noise. The keyboard offers hot-swappable terminals, making it easy to customize without the need for soldering.

User Reviews

Customers like the keyboard’s quality, color, ease of use, and value. They mention that it’s a solid board with no defects, the RGB is super pretty, and the settings are perfect. They also appreciate the feel and keycaps. That said, opinions are mixed on performance, and sound quality.

Verdict

The Skyloong GK75 is a great hot-swappable 75% keyboard. The white case with white/gray keycaps is a classic combo that looks great on the desk. The RGB is brilliant, vibrant, and the colors are a pleasing pastel tone. It comes with a plate and 5-pin sockets, so the keyboard will accept any 5-pin PCB mount or 3-pin plate mount switch. The ABS keycaps are doubleshot and thick walled, but dry sublimated caps would improve this keyboard a lot. I can pick up small irregularities with some keys if I press too hard but it’s very rare, it is definitely more comfortable to type on than a membrane keyboard. The switches come factory lubed, and you have the option of choosing the Gateron Red, Brown, Black, or the Iceberg Optical Yellow Switch. Overall, this is a good budget keyboard with lots to offer, and with very few negatives. I recommend this to everyone who is looking for a good budget keyboard.
