The Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro offers a cutting-edge gaming experience with its advanced features and ergonomic design. The customizable RGB lighting and programmable keys enhance both aesthetics and functionality, providing a competitive edge in any gaming environment.
Key Features
The Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro we tested and reviewed is the full-size, wireless version with linear Red Low-Profile Optical Switches. There’s also a wired version available called the Razer DeathStalker V2 and a wireless TenKeyLess (TKL) version called the Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro TKL. The wired and wireless Pro versions are available with either linear Red or clicky Purple Low-Profile Optical Switches, while the TKL variant is only available with linear switches.
The Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro offers a full-size keyboard experience with Razer™ Low-Profile Optical Switches, providing a light and clicky key feel for an enjoyable typing and gaming experience. These switches are not the ones Razer uses in their high-end keyboards, but they are still good.
The build quality of the Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro is impressive, with a plastic bottom chassis and a top plate crafted from solid aluminum. The board maintains a sturdy structure, exhibiting minimal flex. Additionally, the low-profile keycaps are approximately half the height of standard keycaps. The legends feature shine-through design, allowing backlighting to illuminate them for enhanced readability in low-light conditions. However, there is a noticeable wobbling tendency in several keys, particularly modifier keys such as Tab, Ctrl, Alt, and FN. Nevertheless, this wobbling is less pronounced in larger keys equipped with stabilizers. The keyboard is equipped with five rubber pads underneath and additional rubber pads beneath the incline feet, effectively securing it in place on desks or mousemats.
With 16.8 million color options, the customizable Razer Chroma™ RGB backlighting adds flair to your setup, enhancing aesthetics and allowing personalized lighting effects to match your mood or game theme.
The doubleshot, ABS keycaps on the V2 Pro keyboard offer exceptional longevity and protection against wear and tear. Typing feels smooth, with a satisfying tactile feedback that enhances the overall typing experience, the legends are laser etched, and these keycaps maintain their texture and vibrant appearance without fading. Razer also claims these new keycaps are more durable than most ABS keycaps and not as prone to shine.
Connectivity options are versatile with Razer™ HyperSpeed Wireless (2.4 GHz), Bluetooth, or Type-C connections, ensuring you can easily switch between devices without compromising on performance.
The V2 Pro has several additional features. It allows you to record macros directly on the keyboard and store them in onboard memory. Additionally, you can designate a ‘Game Mode’ hotkey, which disables the Windows key upon activation. Moreover, customization options extend to disabling the Alt+Tab and Alt+F4 hotkeys as well.
Furthermore, this keyboard offers various other hotkeys and a dedicated set of media controls, including a volume roller and a multi-function button with Play/Pause and Next Track/Previous Track functions, depending on the number of taps. Notably, the multi-function button cannot be reprogrammed using the customization software. On the back edge of the chassis, there are additional controls for switching between connection types and paired devices.
Thanks to its low-profile design, the Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro offers a comfortable typing experience, even without a wrist rest. Additionally, it features plastic feet underneath that can be flipped out to offer two different incline settings.
The V2 Pro keyboard offers full compatibility with all major desktop and mobile operating systems. However, it’s worth noting that while the keyboard itself works seamlessly with various systems, the customization software is exclusively compatible with Windows. On Mac devices, it’s standard for certain keys such as Pause, Print Screen, Scroll Lock, and Insert to not have designated functions.
